170 constituteproject.org Colombia 2021 Chapter V Special Jurisdictions T he authorities of indigenous peoples may exercise their jurisdictional functions within their territorial jurisdictions in accordance with their own laws and procedures as long as they are not contrary to the Constitution and the laws of the Republic. A law shall establish the forms of coordination between this special jurisdiction and the national judicial system. A lawmay create justices of the peace entrusted with the equitable resolution of individual and community conflicts. It may also order that they be popularly elected.
